SUV crashes into North Versailles Walmart

NORTH VERSAILLES — An SUV crashed into the North Versailles Walmart Monday.

Chopper 11 captured the first images of the accident.  Police officers, firefighters and medics swarmed the parking lot.

People getting off of work and running in to grab groceries were caught off guard when the vehicle drove into the market entrance.

"It happened so fast.  It made my chest jump," a witness told Channel 11 reporter Courtney Brennan.

Witnesses said several people jumped out of the way so the SUV didn't hit them.

Police think the elderly driver mistakenly hit the gas instead of the brake.

A township engineer called part of the building structurally unsound.

The market is gated off, but the store remains open.

A structural engineer will visit the Walmart on Tuesday.
