Target 11: Top 5 cars for complaints

PITTSBURGH — You may want to think twice about buying the cars on this list, because of the high number of complaints. Consumer Investigator Robin Taylor takes a look at the top five vehicles on this year’s Car Complaint Index.

No manufacturer wants to be on this list.  It means your car may not be very reliable.

1. Hyundai Veloster -- Complaints about transmission and steering problems along with cracking sunroofs

2. Toyota Prius -- Complaints about lurching during acceleration and mileage that isn't as good as advertised

3. Volkswagen Beetle -- Complaints about windows that go down and don't come back up

4. Dodge Journey -- Complaints about brake defects

5. Infinity M

The list is a tool consumers can use before buying a car. If your vehicle is on it and you're not having problems, that’s great. But, if you are having issues, you may have a lemon.

"If you're having a problem and just thought, that's something I just have to put up with, it's just my car, it very well may not be your car, and you may be entitled to compensation for those problems," said Christina Gill Roseman, a Lemon Law attorney with Kimmel & Sliverman.

The list is put together by the Center for Auto Safety. Manufacturers pay close attention to it and have even made changes within a model year to fix problems.
