Couple, 9-year-old killed in White Township blaze

WHITE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Three people died in a mobile home fire in White Township, Indiana County, early Sunday morning.

Nicole Novak, 27, her 9-year-old daughter, Gabbriella Novak, and her boyfriend, Shawn Marsh, 28, died when the Keystone Drive home caught fire about 3:30 a.m.

"Something like this, you're totally blindsided. Nobody expects this. You don't know what it's like until you live it," said Rich Morrill, Nicole Novak's stepfather.

Nicole Novak's two other daughters spent Saturday night with a relative and were not home at the time of the fire.

"They worked so hard for their babies," said Denise Morrill, Nicole Novak's mother.

Heat and intense flames prevented neighbors from reaching Nicole Novak, her daughter and Marsh.

According to the Indiana County Coroner's Office, the three victims were found in one of the mobile home's bedrooms. Two dogs also died in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
