Route 28 has been bad enough over the past few weeks with new traffic patterns.
But this weekend, it’s going to get worse -- and just as a major concert comes to Heinz Field.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, one lane will close on 28 South between the 31st Street Bridge and the East Ohio Street exit.
It will be the right lane, which means you won’t be able to get off 28 at East Ohio Street.
Motorists will have to take a detour that will go through the North Shore and eventually back onto East Ohio Street.
PennDOT crews are doing work on the hillside near 28. A PennDOT spokesperson told Channel 11 News that the work and closure will last until 5 a.m. Monday morning.
Route 28 North heading out of the city will not be impacted and all lanes will be open.
