Uniontown man dies of cardiac arrest after discovering burglary

HIBBS, Pa. (AP) — State police said a man with heart problems died after he returned home to find a gun had been stolen when his German Township home was burglarized while he was away.

Trooper Stefani Plume of the Uniontown barracks said troopers don't have a suspect in Tuesday's burglary that apparently led to the death of 65-year-old Richard Mazzocco.

Plume said Mazzocco and his wife returned home from running errands Tuesday evening when they noticed their home had been broken into.

Mazzocco immediately ran upstairs and found the handgun had been stolen.

That's when Plume said Mazzocco "began to feel ill and then suffered a medical event that resulted in his death. It is a tragic incident."

Police say Mazzocco died of cardiac arrest.

Some jewelry was also stolen.
