The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) revealed Friday that it is suing Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl over its nonprofit status.
Channel 11’s news exchange partners at TribLIVE said UPMC claims Ravenstahl initiated a campaign to target and damage the company.
According to TribLIVE, Ravenstahl is questioning the hospital’s tax-exempt status, and UPMC is suing, claiming this questioning violates their constitutional rights to due process and equal protection.
