Van catches fire in Tarentum, spreads to nearby building

TARENTUM, Pa. — Firefighters were called to battle a fast-moving blaze Monday morning that started in a van and spread to a nearby building.

Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson reported that the fire prompted crews to shut down the 500 block of Second Avenue.

Officials said flames were first reported around 3 a.m.

According to firefighters, the blaze began in a van and then spread to a two-story storage area where some combustible materials were stored.

Crews were able to contain the flames and prevent any explosions. No injuries were reported.

Second Avenue has since reopened.

So far, there is no word on what caused the blaze.
