Wilmington Area High School students return to school days after classmate killed in crash

PULASKI TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Grief counselors were on hand Monday at Wilmington Area High School as students returned to school two days after a classmate was killed in a car crash.

Officials said the accident happened on South Valleyview Road in Pulaski Township Friday night.

According to police, Ethan Seeber, 17, was driving a pickup truck when he swerved to miss a deer.

The truck landed on its roof in a creek, and Seeber had to be pulled from the wreckage along with his passenger, Shane McQuiston, 15. McQuiston died from injuries he suffered in the crash.

Investigators said the teens had their seat belts on at the time of the crash, but they were trapped inside the truck upside down while water poured in.

McQuiston’s classmates and teachers referred to him as “full of life and spunky.”

“He was a great kid. He was on the golf team and in the band. He touched a lot of kids’ lives,” principal Bob Kwiat said.

Wilmington Area High School students wore white at Saturday night’s boys’ basketball game in memory of McQuiston.

McQuiston, a sophomore, was on the golf team and played trumpet in the marching band.
