Vigil held for man shot, killed in Hill District

PITTSBURGH — A candlelight vigil was held Monday for a man who was shot and killed in the Hill District last week.

Friends and family gathered to remember Andre Roberts, 23, who had young children and got married two months ago.

"I don't have the words.  I really don't.  I'm just worried about my family, his kids and his wife," said Roberts' mom, Ranata Roberts.

Police said Roberts was shot in a car during some kind of robbery.  A friend was reportedly in the car with Roberts when he was shot.  Police said the friend ran, and they're still looking for him.

No one has come forward with any information about the shooting.

Roberts' family hopes the vigil will soften hearts and push people to do the right thing and call police.

The Roberts family has set up the Andre Roberts Memorial Fund to raise money for his homegoing service scheduled for July 2 at Calvary Baptist Church.  You can go to PNC Bank or donate HERE online.
