Water main break in Wilkinsburg prompts road closures due to ice

WILKINSBURG, Pa. — Several roads in Wilkinsburg were closed Wednesday morning after an early-morning water main break.

Officials said the break happened around 2 a.m. on Montier Street.

Channel 11 News was there as water ran onto Penn Avenue where it turned to ice and buckled a portion of the road.

Montier and Penn avenues were closed as workers stopped the leak.

The roadways reopened just after 4 a.m. Crews salted the roadways to keep motorists safe throughout the morning.
