West End man says he beat girlfriend's cat over jealousy

PITTSBURGH — A West End man said he beat his girlfriend's cat because he was jealous that she gave the cat more attention than him.

Channel 11's Jodine Costanzo reported that Joe Sadosky was charged with five counts of animal cruelty after a vet became suspicious.

Investigators said Sadosky's girlfriend took the cat to Northview Animal Hospital four times in a matter of weeks, and the vet alerted the Humane Society.

"It was one incident after another. This animal was hurt when Joe was home alone with it," Pittsburgh police Officer Christine Luffey said.

Sadosky spoke to Constanzo on Wednesday after he turned himself in to Zone 3 police.

"I didn't mean to hurt her, and I'm sorry for everything," Sadosky said.

Constanzo reported that the cat suffered several broken bones and is being treated at a veterinarian's office in the North Hills.
