Freezing rain hits some areas during morning commute; Rain to continue into afternoon

PITTSBURGH - Freezing rain hit some of the Channel 11 viewing area Friday morning, just in time for the morning commute.

Severe Weather Team meteorologist Kevin Benson said light freezing rain, mixed with snow hit Allegheny County around 7 a.m.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for several counties in the area through Friday night. To view current advisories, click here.

The freezing rain, sleet and snow will change to light rain Friday afternoon -- with a high of 37 degrees.

Friday night should remain mostly cloudy with a low of 33 degrees.

Saturday will remain variably cloudy with a shower in a few spots. Saturday's high is expected to reach 42 degrees.
