Witnesses save dogs from burning Hickory Twp. home

HICKORY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Two men are being credited with saving two dogs that were inside a burning Lawrence County home Wednesday night.

Authorities said two men were driving along State Road in Hickory Township just before 6 p.m. Wednesday when they saw a home engulfed in smoke and flames.

The men said they stopped to make sure no one was trapped inside the home. They kicked in doors and quickly scanned the home.

No one was inside, but the men rescued two dogs that were found in the kitchen.

The house was destroyed in the blaze, and investigators are working to determine what caused the fire.
