Woman, 49, critical but stable following violent home invasion

BUTLER, Pa. — Authorities in Butler continue to investigate a violent home invasion that left a 49-year-old woman injured over the weekend.

According to Butler City Police, officers were dispatched to a home on Miller Avenue Sunday about 5 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Shari Donnel had been shot while in her bed.

Donnel was taken to a trauma center in Pittsburgh. She suffered a gunshot wound to her abdomen and lower chest. She remains in critical but stable condition.

Detectives have conducted several interviews and continue to investigate. No arrests have been made and anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police.
