Woman carjacked, forced to withdraw cash for robber

MUNHALL, Pa. — Police are investigating after a woman said she was carjacked Sunday morning in Munhall.

Authorities said a woman walked into the Sunoco store on Duquesne Road about 6 a.m. to get a cup of coffee. When she went back and got into her car, a man held a gun to her head and told her to drive.

Surveillance video showed the man was hiding in the gas station’s car wash and he got in her car while she was inside the store.

“The actor was hiding in the back seat. He stuck a gun to the back of her head and told her to keep driving,” Police Chief Patrick Campbell said.

According to police, the man forced the 47-year-old woman to drive to an ATM where she used her credit card to get the man $500.

Investigators said he then forced her to ride in the passenger seat while he drove away. He dropped the woman off a short time later on the side of a road in West Mifflin.

“He said, ‘If you look at me, I will shoot you,’” Campbell said. “She never looked at him. She said she was afraid to look at him.”

Police said they’re still looking for the woman’s car. It’s a 2005 silver Chevy Equinox with the license plate GYB-3974.
