Woman carjacked in Wilkinsburg park and ride lot

None — WILKINSBURG, Pa. -- Police said a woman was carjacked in a Port Authority park and ride.

Investigators said the incident happened around 7 a.m. in the Wilkinsburg lot. The victim said a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt held her at gunpoint for her car and money.

Police said the man then tied the woman up and drove around for several blocks. Investigators said the man then dropped the victim off on Franklin Avenue and walked to a nearby daycare for help.

"She came to the front hallway. They wouldn't let her past the door for security purposes and they did call the police. The police came and escorted her out of the building," said daycare owner Janice Harris. "It was comforting knowing that we were able to help her out and keep our kids safe and secure."

Port Authority officials said the man got away with the woman's silver Volvo station wagon. Police said the car has a dent in the driver's side, a purple Edgewood parking sticker on the rear window and Pennsylvania license plate number HJW-8861.

The victim was not hurt. So far, no arrests have been made.
