Woman convicted 12 times for retail theft arrested in Cranberry Twp.

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police in Cranberry Township arrested a woman accused of trying to steal from an electronics store.

Authorities said Patricia Coto, 28, was caught trying to steal a $55 Xbox video game controller from the Best Buy in the Cranberry Square shopping plaza.

Investigators said an employee recognized her from a failed attempt to steal something previously, so they watched her closely.

When officers questioned her about trying to steal the controller, Coto lied about her name, police said.

According to police, Coto has been convicted of retail theft 12 times dating back to 2005 in Allegheny County. Seven of those convictions were in 2012.

Due to her criminal record, Coto was placed in the Butler County Prison on $20,000 bail. She is facing retail theft charges.
