Police mistakenly arrest roofer for burglary attempt

BULLSKIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A homeowner is being credited with preventing a burglar from robbing her Bullskin Township home Monday afternoon.

According to police, a woman saw a man trying to break into her house on Route 982 about 1:30 p.m. Monday and scared him off.

Authorities said when officers arrived at the scene, a roofer doing work next door matched the description of the suspect and was handcuffed and questioned.

Investigators said the roofer wasn’t the burglar, and that the burglar fled on foot north on Route 982.

Anyone with information on the attempted burglary is asked to contact police.
