Man accused in heroin ring to represent himself in court

A man accused of being part of a large heroin ring in Westmoreland County will head to trial, a judge ruled Thursday.

All charges were held for court Thursday against Lindsey Wright, who prosecutors said is the entrepreneur of the intricate drug ring.

Wright is acting as his own defense attorney. When asked how he thought testimony went on Thursday, Wright told Channel 11, "Good."

Four witnesses and a state trooper took the stand, detailing their accounts and relationships with Wright over the past year. One was his former associated, Chancy Bray, who testified that he would get 100-200 bricks of heroin a month off Wright, then sold the heroin out of a house in Youngwood.

Bray testified he also worked with James Moore and Sade Franklin before getting together with Wright.

Bray said he was testifying against Wright because he was "betrayed."

"They said it was betrayal," Wright said. "So basically they got a deal for their testimony but they want to lie and say they didn't get a deal."

Prosecutors used Facebook conversations and audio recordings as evidence against Wright. Two witnesses details a trip to Philadelphia in April, where a witness was brought along to shoot up and test heroin before bringing it back to the area.

Wright argued the testimony was "hearsay" and felt they were coerced into testifying.

Immediately after his preliminary hearing, prosecutors requested a bond hearing, showed the judge a Facebook video of Wright and that was enough for the judge to deny bond.
