Man accused of trading sex with woman for photos of minor faces over 1,000 charges

FAYETTE CITY, Pa. — A Fayette County man is facing more than 1,200 pornography-related charges after police said he had sex with his girlfriend in exchange for inappropriate photos of her 10-year-old granddaughter.

Randy Dale Roley, 43, was arrested and taken to jail Monday evening on 1,226 charges.

Police said they found hundreds of child porn images on his computer and phone inside his Fayette City home. Police confiscated computer towers, five cell phones, 28 floppy disks, multiple cameras and 37 handwritten journals.

State police said Roley came to their attention in January after someone said Roley's girlfriend was sending him pictures of her granddaughter sleeping. According to the criminal complaint, one of those pictures showed the 10-year-old girl with her pants down.

While he was being led to a police cruiser Monday, Roley declined to comment on the charges, saying, “I plead the Fifth.”

He did speak with police, however, about the arrangement he had made with his girlfriend in January. According to the complaint, Roley said his girlfriend would send him pictures of her granddaughter in exchange for sex.

He told police he has "fantasies about having sex with young girls,” but said he would "never hurt a child,” the complaint said.

Some of Roley’s neighbors told Channel 11 News they weren’t surprised by the charges. They said they knew something was wrong and were cautious of their own children around him.

“I have four daughters that live across the street. He creeped us out,” one neighbor said. “It's been terrifying. I don’t want to let kids on the porch without me.”

State police told Channel 11 News that Roley’s girlfriend will also be charged, but they couldn’t say when that would happen. Authorities said the charges against her could include endangering the welfare of a child.
