Man arrested after wielding chain saws on subway train, making threats

ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. — There were some harrowing moments for passengers on a San Francisco transit train as a man pulled out two chain saws while on the train.

Patrick Bingham, 47, was arrested and charged with several crimes including exhibiting a deadly weapon after he was caught on camera wielding a chain saw as passengers sat stunned.

Jalina Bluford pulled out her phone and shot video of Bingham. She said he was trying to start one chain saw, then put the chain saw down, and took out another one - brand new from the box. Bluford said Bingham made some menacing comments while on the train.

"And then he's like trying to start it and, and he's like making all these noises talking about Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then he's talking about he's the BART massacre," Bluford told KNTV.  She posted the video on Twitter demanding that security on the Bay Area trains be stronger.

The transit agency said police received multiple calls about the man, and officers arrested Bingham at the next stop. Officials said the police acted within minutes.

Bingham is expected to be arraigned this Wednesday morning.
