Man arrested in connection with shooting death of man found in alley

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — A man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old was taken into custody Friday, police said.

Authorities said Todd Rogers, 25, was found shot in the head Sunday night in an alley in New Kensington. He died from his injuries two days later at a Pittsburgh hospital.

Daquane Faulk, 23, was arrested outside of a home in Wilkinsburg late Friday afternoon. He allegedly was carrying a firearm and heroin and wearing a bulletproof vest at the time.%

According to the criminal complaint out of Westmoreland County, Rogers, Faulk and another man were together Sunday, drinking and smoking marijuana.

The report said the three men went to a woman's home, where Faulk took off his clothes, tried to get into a bathtub with a girl and was then taunted by his friends when she said no.

According to the complaint, Faulk responded, saying, “(They) must want their death wish, and that they must be suicidal by talking to him in this way."

While Roger’s father watched his son's alleged killer from a distance be taken to jail Friday, he told Channel 11 News that he knew this day would happen, and that his son started hanging with the wrong crowd.

When asked if there are any more suspects in the case, detectives said the investigation remains fluid.

Faulk is scheduled to be arraigned in Allegheny County overnight Friday.

New Kensington Detective Sgt. Dino DiGiacobbe told Channel 11’s news partners at

that Faulk is an ex-con only recently released from prison.

"Faulk just got out of prison on May 7," DiGiacobbe told

. "He maxed out and served all three years before he was released."

reported that VND archives indicated Faulk was a juvenile charged as an adult in 2009 for a home invasion in Brackenridge, in which he and two other youths were armed with handguns and shots were fired.

In addition to the murder charges in connection with Rodgers’ death, Wilkinsburg police are charging Faulk for illegal gun possession and illegally possessing body armor.
