Man confined to wheelchair robbed at gunpoint for 2nd time in 2 years

Ron Murphy

SALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man who is confined to a wheelchair was robbed Wednesday at gunpoint in Salem Township of everything he owns.

Ron Murphy said the incident began Wednesday morning when the generator on his mobile home off Route 22 went off. He said his friend went to check on the generator and encountered a man with a gun who demanded money.

The armed man got away with both men’s wallets, cash and cell phones.

Murphy, who owns Murphy’s Produce, said it was the second time he was robbed in two years,

“Like, you just want to quit. Is it worth all this? You're struggling to make it by, and all of a sudden, it happens again. Why can't they work like I have to work?” he said.

Murphy said he thinks the same man robbed him both times.

Authorities said two people were involved in the robbery. No arrests have been made.
