Man dies in Route 422 head-on collision

ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. — Terry R. McClafferty, 37, of Cherry Run Road in Ford City died shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday when his 2006 Dodge pickup truck was hit head-on by another vehicle, police said.

Police said McClafferty was traveling west on Route 422 when his truck collided with a 1999 F-350 Ford pickup traveling in the opposite direction.

Police have identified the driver of the Ford F-350 as Jonathan Brandon Miller, 23, of Ford City.

Police said they believe alcohol played a contributing factor in this crash.

McClafferty was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Brian K. Myers and an autopsy will be performed later Sunday.

Police said Route 422 reopened in both directions shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday

Authorities are still investigating the accident and police said charges against Miller will be filed pending lab results.
