Man involved in New Castle standoff takes own life

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Pa. — A standoff in New Castle ended Saturday when the man fatally shot himself, police said.

The incident was reported just before 8:30 a.m. when police received a call for a domestic disturbance on Marshall Avenue. When police arrived, they were told that Troy Glenn Addy had forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home, put a gun to her head and threatened to kill her.

Addy left the home and threatened to kill any police officers, New Castle police Chief Robert Salem said in a news release. Officers then went to a residence on South Jefferson Street, where they found Addy barricaded inside with a firearm.

The New Castle Police Department Special Response Team and officers from surrounding jurisdictions attempted to negotiate with Addy for several hours. Police eventually entered the residence, where they found Addy dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
