Man shot in chest dies after driving himself to Pittsburgh hospital

PITTSBURGH — A man died Sunday morning after driving himself to Allegheny General Hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest.

According to police, the man arrived at the hospital on his own shortly after 4 a.m. His vehicle struck several walls as he entered the emergency room parking area.

Police said the man, identified by the medical examiner’s officer as 56-year-old Reginald Shelton, of the West End, was initially listed in critical condition. He was pronounced dead several hours later.

Police said it is unclear where the shooting happened.
