Manager locked in freezer during robbery at Penn Hills pizza shop

PENN HILLS, Pa. — A manager of a Papa John’s Pizza in Penn Hills was locked in a freezer during a robbery late Friday night, police said.

Two people robbed the restaurant on Frankstown Road about 11 p.m., police said. They fled after locking the manager in the freezer.

The general manager told Channel 11 News that both men had guns, and the manager who was working at the time was pistol-whipped and robbed of his cellphone and wallet. He was ordered to open a safe, but did not know the code.
