McKeesport residents wary after 3 fires in 2 days

MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Three fires in less than 48 hours has left McKeesport residents wary of a possible arsonist.

Neighbors told Channel 11’s Steven Fisher they’re afraid of the fires are the work of an arsonist and that it will happen again.  %

“If it's a criminal doing it, (it’s) scary. I have a 5-year-old. Everybody has kids. It's a scary thing," said Sherry Helfrich, a neighbor.

Helfrich lives around the corner from where a fire torched three vacant row houses Tuesday night. On Monday, fire officials said they responded to two garbage fires, all of them being ruled suspicious.

“Now, I'm sure we'll all be looking out a little more than we usually do," said Helfrich.

Due to all three fires being ruled suspicious, the county fire marshal will be investigating.
