10-Year-Old Girl Suspect in Door-to-Door Scheme

By Stef Davis

WALKER TOWNSHIP, Pa

Door-to-door deception. Police say a 10-year-old girl is selling fake fast food discount cards throughout Centre County and the surrounding areas. And she is doing it with the help of an older woman.

Ned Rhine says “They would have to be pretty desperate to have your child con. That’s the only way I’d think anyone would be crazy enough to have their children do it."

Ned Rhine lives along Nittany Valley Drive in Walker Township, Centre County--the place where police say the schemers were last seen. Investigators say an older woman with dark brown hair drops off the little girl in a silver minivan.

Then the girl, who is described as four feet tall with brown hair and blue eyes, knocks on the door. She sells her victims red white and blue cards fast food discount cards for ten dollars. The cards are fake.

Police say she's been spotted selling in Lock Haven and Lamar before landing here in Walker Township. Many neighbors say they are surprised she chose this area because everyone knows everyone and a stranger, especially a little girl, would raise eyebrows right off the bat.

Rhine adds, "Yes i would be suspicious because I wouldn't know the people. And that would deter me."
