2 Additional Water Main Breaks Plague West Mifflin Area

Break Causes Schools To Close

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. —

Work is being done Monday morning to repair a water main break in Lincoln Place that has schools in several districts shut down.

About 200 people woke up without water after a break in a 16-inch main.

By 4:30 p.m. Sunday, water was spewing from a hole in Interboro Avenue, causing the sidewalk and road to cave in.

Crews repaired that break, but the main broke again -– this time it was a 10-inch break. And then crews uncovered two other breaks in the area.

The line services residents in Lincoln Place, Munhall, Homestead, West Homestead and West Mifflin.

Portable tankers supplying water are in place.

Crews hope to have water service fully restored by Monday afternoon.
