3 Rescued After Boat Capsizes In Loyalhanna Lake

NEW ALEXANDRIA, Pa. —

Emergency crews said a family of three is safe after their boat capsized on a lake about 30 miles east of Pittsburgh.

New Alexandria fire Lt. Chuck Ferry said the family had to be rescued about 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Ferry said the husband, wife and their teenage daughter were fishing on Loyalhanna Lake when their boat capsized. They had life preservers on board, but were not wearing them when rescue crews arrived to pull them from the chilly water.

Ferry said the family was likely in the water for about 20 minutes before they were rescued.

Officials have not released the names of the family.
