300 North Park Geese Killed

County Authorized Killings Despite Agreement

NORTH PARK, Pa. —

Nearly 300 geese were killed over the weekend.

The killings have animal activists outraged.

Allegheny County authorized the killings of the birds, which had been living in North Park.

Officials with Voices for Animals of Western Pennsylvania say the geese were put to death despite an agreement to deal with the over-population in a more humane manner.

They also claim that they consider to be a sensationalist TV report and pressure from local officials led to the killings.
