June -- it started like any other month. But, Tuesday’s date, 6-6-06 sets it apart.
In fact, some say it could mean doomsday. But does the date really have evil significance or is it just another day?
There are many ways of looking at it -- religious, superstitious, paranoid or oblivious Tuesdays date in June 6, 2006 or 6-6-6.
The numbers are usually associated with the devil due to a passage in the Bible's book of Revelations that gives the digits the significance of being those of "the beast."
Some see the day as a bad omen.
Movie producers are seeing it as a good omen, or perhaps a good day to debut the remake of the 1976 horror flick by the same name. In the film, a couple finds out that their son may be the devil incarnate.
Two books are also hitting shelves on the marked day including one called "Godless - The Church of Liberalism."
While some are taking the biblical connection to the date literally, others, such as one Anglican priest, see it as just another day.
Rev. Michael Lloyd, of St. Andrews Church, said, "The 6th of June has no particular significance. Partly, remember that the date is 06-06-2006, not 666, so it has nothing to do with the book of Revelation. For one thing, the book of Revelation is talking about a first-century person, not about a 21st-century event."
Even so, some soon-to-be mothers are a little uncomfortable with Tuesday being a due date possibility. Some have opted for a scheduled cesarean-section with-in the last few days.
Another way of looking at the day? Despite the year, June 6 is also known as St. Norbert's Feast Day.
Here are more details about the number 666.
The "number of the beast" is mentioned in the book of Revelation.
The meaning of it is debated. In some interpretations, the beast is believed to refer to a being controlled by or equated with the Antichrist.
