Allegheny County Council Proposes Drink Tax

Public Meeting Held Tuesday

PITTSBURGH —

Tuesday, residents were able to talk to the Allegheny County Council about a proposed drink tax.

If passed, the legislation would create a tax of up to 10 percent on every glass of beer, wine and liquor served in the county. It could also impose a similar surcharge on bottles of wine in restaurants, and package liquor sales for large events.
