Andy Gastmeyer is a reporter for Channel 11 News.
Andy joined the Channel 11 News team in July of 1984 as a reporter. He was a member of the Target 11 Investigative Unit for several years. A native of New York, Andy graduated with a double major in History and English from Old Dominion University. He did post-graduate work at New York University. Andy worked as a reporter for WAVY-TV in Norfolk, VA, and for KDKA-TV. He was a White House correspondent for Television News, Inc. and Satellite News in Washington, D.C.
Through the years, Andy has received many awards for his reporting. He is the recipient of four first place awards from the Pennsylvania Associated Press for his investigative pieces on Met Life Services, the Pirates, and bar beatings. He also received an Ed King Memorial Award for his series on local bar beating allegations. Andy is proud to have been honored with a National POW/ MIA League Humanitarian Award for his coverage of Virginia Beach POW families.
