Arson Suspected In Railroad Tie Fire

GLASSPORT, Pa. —

Firefighters spent Friday morning battling a blaze in Glassport, and a fire marshal ruled the flames were set on purpose.

It started around 3:30 a.m. at a pile of railroad ties near Third Street and Oak Street.

Police were responding to another call when they spotted the fire. They said as many as 1,000 railroad ties burned in the fire.

A firefighter took pictures of the blaze and gave them to Channel 11 news.

It took about an hour to final extinguish the flames. No one was hurt.
