BECKLEY, W.v. —
The bus was one of five carrying the students to Myrtle Beach for a spring music trip.
School officials told Channel 11 News that a car lost control, crossed a grass median and crashed into the bus at about 3 a.m. The driver of the car was killed.
No one on the bus was injured.
"The car hit the bus and then kept going and flipped over," said Bethel Park spokesperson Vicki Flotta. "Minimal damage to the bus. Split the windshield and unfortunately, the driver in the car passed away because of the impact. The bus driver did what he needed to do to minimize the impact. We're very thankful none of our staff or students were hurt."
The students are now preparing for their music competition, which will last through the weekend.
