Bethel Park Council Decides Fate of Accused Councilman

BETHEL PARK —

Bethel Park Council held a special meeting Monday night concerning the status of incriminated Councilman Paul Martin.

Martin issued a letter of resignation last week to council after being charged with driving under the influence.

Monday's meeting saw council vote to accept Martin's resignation.

Martin was arrested back in July on multiple charges after police said Martin backed into a police cruiser five times. His blood alcohol content was at least twice the legal limit, police said.

Martin and his attorney appeared in court today, but chose to waive his preliminary hearing to trial.
