Boats Burned In Freeport, Pa.

Some boat owners in Freeport woke up to bad news on Friday morning.

Three weeks ago Tony Chiado purchased his boat and brought it back from Delaware, but instead of looking forward to a fun 4th on the river he got an unexpected phone call this morning. "It was a buddy of mine. He was a fireman and he called and said we think we have your boat. Somebody set it on fire and cut it loose from your dock."

The Butler State Police Fire Marshall is investigating after they say someone set fire to two boats and then let them drift down river over a mile, landing at the River Forest Golf Course.

Chiado says the damage is bad, "It looks like they set the front seat on fire and it ended up burning the floor and it went up into the roof and uh. They tried to light another seat on fire. It didn't catch thankfully."

Investigators say they found beer cans at the scene and other evidence.
