RENO, Nev. —
Sally Chopping said she believes Roethlisberger is telling the truth about the allegations against him.
"You can really tell he's finding this thing heavy going," she said after watching the statement.
In a part of the statement where Roethlisberger shook his head a split second before the word 'never', Chopping said, "He's not thinking it, he's not faking it, he's feeling it."
Chopping also believes Roethlisberger is feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders, evidenced by his shoulder shrugs. But she believes the shrugs also show his sincerity.
Target 11 Investigator Rick Earle also learned on Thursday that Roethlisberger was served court papers last week, accusing him of sexually assaulting a hotel worker, while golfing at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe.
Earle also learned that a private investigator attempted to serve Roethlisberger at a concert the night before, but he was cordoned off with other celebrities in a VIP area, and the private investigator couldn’t get close enough to him.
Sources told Earle the private investigator approached Roethlisberger as a fan seeking an autograph, at which point she served him with the court papers.

Andrea McNulty, 31, filed the lawsuit, saying the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback raped her in a Harrah's Lake Tahoe penthouse across the street from the golf course.
Target 11 learned that McNulty lives on a small farm about an hour outside of Reno. A college graduate, McNulty was married once and is now divorced with no children. She moved to the Reno area from Gardnerville, Nev., about six years ago in order to work in the casinos.
McNulty got a job at Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe and quickly rose through the ranks to Executive Casino Host, the title she held at the time of her alleged sexual assault.
Cal Dunlap, McNulty’s attorney, filed the civil lawsuit in Washoe County District Court on her behalf on Friday.
Earle spoke with Dunlap, a former district attorney in Reno, who refused to comment on the lawsuit.
However, Dunlap said that his client has not returned to work at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe, the hotel where Roethlisberger’s alleged sexual assault of McNulty is accused of taking place last summer. He said she plans on returning to work in the near future because she has bills to pay, and she needs to work.
When asked how his client is handling all of the media attention, Dunlap said, "She's doing fine. You can imagine the satellite trucks outside her house … and people going through her mail."
As a former district attorney, Dunlap is no stranger to media attention and high-profile cases. The well-known Reno lawyer represents Nevada’s first lady Dawn Gibbons in divorce proceedings against Republican Gov. Jim Gibbons.
