LIGONIER, Pa. —
Christopher Harr, who had just started at Ligonier Valley Middle School, would have turned 12 on Oct. 2.
Ligonier Township police chief Michael Matrunics said one juvenile accidentally shot the victim while playing with a .30-caliber carbine rifle at a Darlington Road home.
Township police and Westmoreland County detectives are investigating.
Daniel Harr said his son loved fishing, hunting and video games. He said he doesn't blame the other child.
"Kids are going to be kids, but that is where parents need to be responsible with the guns that they own, making sure that they are locked up, that they have safety locks on them, that they are not loaded and accessible by children," said Daniel Harr.
Police did not say whether charges would be filed.
