PITTSBURGH —
Officials said Hayden Stoll has a broken jaw and possible nerve damage from the attack.
William Stoll, Hayden’s grandfather, said his grandson was in the front yard when the dog came out of nowhere and began biting him in the face.
Stoll said another child ran for help while Hayden was being attacked by the dog.
"The dog had him right across the face," Stoll said. "I tried prying open his mouth and I couldn't. We got a rock and began banging on its back and shoulders. Finally, the dog let go."
Hayden was rushed to Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville for surgery.
“I feel horrible for him,” Hayden’s mother Jennifer Stoll said. “He is going to have scarring the rest of his life and he was such a cutie pie.”
Family member said they do not know who the dog belongs to, but they are hoping the owner comes forward.
