Brighton Heights Apartments Evacuated After Fire

PITTSBURGH —

A fire forced the evacuation of a Brighton Heights apartment building Wednesday.

Investigators told Channel 11 News that a small fire started in a third floor unit at Lynn Williams Apartments shortly before 8:30 p.m.

They said the fire was caused by a woman who fell asleep while smoking on her couch.

The fire was contained to the woman's apartment, but the third floor sustained smoke and water damage.

Officials said the woman, who requires oxygen, was transported to the hospital for evaluation, but was not seriously hurt.
