Children’s Hospital Playroom Named After Lemieux’s Son

PITTSBURGH —

A special playroom at Children's Hospital is being named after the son of a co-owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

“Austin's Playroom,” named after Penguins co-owner Mario Lemieux’s son, officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday.

The extended hours playroom is on the sixth floor of the new Children’s Hospital in Lawrenceville.

The playroom was created as part of the "Playroom Project", which was started after Mario Lemieux and his wife cared for their premature son, Austin.

The playroom will provide a comfortable and calming environment to parents and babies in similar situations.
