Theft suspects kiss to distract store employee

By Lou Grieco

DAYTON —

A team of thieves apparently used a series of distraction strategies, including making out, to steal a phone from a a Verizon store.

The theft, at the store at 1200 Brown St., occurred about 5 p.m. Nov. 20, according to an incident report taken by Dayton police.

The employee told police that one of the thieves distracted the employees by asking them to try to activate a phone, while the other two stayed in the front of the store. An employee watched those two, but turned away as they started “making out,” the report said.

When the three left, the employees noticed that one of the display phones was missing. No other customers were in the store at the time.
