Defense Rests Without Testimony By Veon, Others

HARRISBURG, Pa. —

The defense case is over without testimony by former state Rep. Mike Veon or his three co-defendants in their public corruption trial.

Dauphin County Judge Richard Lewis told jurors Wednesday that final arguments would be held the next morning. Prosecutors haven't decided whether to put on any rebuttal witnesses.

That means it's probable that jurors will begin deliberating the theft, conspiracy and conflict-of-interest case before the weekend.

Veon and former House Democratic aides Annamarie Perretta-Rosepink, Steve Keefer and Brett Cott are accused of diverting state resources and employees to help with political campaigns and other improper purposes.
