Dormont Mother Pushes For Park For Lost Sons

DORMONT, Pa. —

A Dormont mother made a final push Monday night to create a skate park in her sons' honor.

At Dormont's council meeting, Mary Pitcher once again proposed the creation of a skate park in Dormont. It would honor her sons, Vincent, 21, and Stephen, 19, who drowned in July, 2008.

Pitcher hopes that with new members on council since the last vote, that the outcome this time will be different.

"I think the council has seen the support behind the park, and the supporters have aided them to become elected, and it became a big issue in Dormont, the skate park itself," said Pitcher.

Pitcher said she already received some grants to help cover the costs. Council will vote on the issue next Monday.
