PITTSBURGH —
All "T" services had been terminated at the Wood Street station after smoke was spotted coming from it.
As a precautionary measure, the Port Authority decided to close the stop and and terminate service at the Steel Plaza Station, leaving many people several blocks away from the heart of the golden triangle and their original destination. .
Officials restored service shortly after 8 a.m. and said all operations had returned to normal.
Some riders took the incident in stride.
"We got stuck in the tunnel,” said Bridgette Struzinski. “(They said), ‘You're not going to Wood Street,’ so I said, ‘Oh well, we'll walk to Wood Street.’"
"I'm stuck because I don't have an umbrella to go further," said Baishali Sen, as it rained outside.
