Teachers’ Union Opposes Woodland Hills After-School Program

TURTLE CREEK, Pa. —

The teachers’ union is opposing an after-school program in the works at Woodland Hills School District.

The program is to give students the opportunity to take classes after school, starting at 3 p.m. and ending at 7 p.m. The classes would be taught by teachers who would have their shifts staggered.

The program is designed to benefit students who want to graduate early, make up a failed class or have been suspended or expelled.

However, the teachers’ union said the school has essentially established a new school calendar without the teachers’ consent.

The union has filed a grievance against Woodland Hills.
