Elderly Woman Found Stabbed, Beaten In Clairton Home

No Arrests Made

CLAIRTON, Pa. —

An 82-year-old woman remains in critical condition after a violent attack in Clairton.

Neighbors found Ranta stabbed, beaten, and laying on the floor of her North Third Street home around 8 p.m. Saturday.

A prayer was offered for Ranta at St. Clare of Assisi Church on Sunday. The pastor said her attack should motivate the congregation to take action.

The Rev. Richard Zelik said, "We can no longer live with the fact that those who have such serious problems and are so violent can do what they want in our community."

When neighbors first found Ranta, they also discovered her car was missing. Police found it a short time later. They believe the motive was robbery.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact police.
